Sara Cuthbert and Stuart Solzberg are a husband and wife team obsessed with actualizing the history and genealogy of a fictitious traveling variety show they created named Bushwick Farms. Blending fact and fiction, they have been traveling America for the past four years, incorporating slide shows, tent shows, and live performances.
The exhibition of the paintings by the Cuban-born artist will open the NIU School of Art's exhibition schedule on August 22, 2005 in the renovated Olson Gallery. Sierra's work has been described as richly textured canvases of narrative landscapes, shimmering with the mystical spirit of tropical dreams that evoke the flavors of his Cuban heritage and his urban life in Chicago.
